Is there a better combination than peanut butter and chocolate? No, there isn’t. Not even peanut butter and jelly, sorry for all you PB&J lovers out there.

Honestly though, if I was on my deathbed, this would be one food that I would request. I am a lover of all things chocolate and peanut butter, but combine them? I am in HEAVEN.

I used to make these a lot and they would quickly disappear. Who me? NOoooo, it’s not me, it’s my inner fat girl that can’t control herself around these things.

No Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls

I don’t even remember where the original recipe was from because I started making these years ago, but once I started Keto I forgot about them because the recipe called for honey.

If you have been following me for a bit you know that my mission is to make you see that anything can be Keto, just like cauliflower can be pizza!

The first time I tried to Keto-vert these (hey, I just made a word) I used erythritol as the sweetener.

Although they still turned out really tasty, I wasn’t too thrilled with how thick the dough was and the gritty texture of that particular sweetener. Not to mention, my husband is not a fan of erythritol. I can’t be the only one eating these so I had to think of a substitute.

What sweeteners can I use for this Peanut Butter Balls Recipe?

Feel free to use any sweetener you do have. I would recommend you grind it in a Nutri bullet or grinder first though. Otherwise, if honey isn’t an issue for you, go ahead and use 1/4 cup of honey instead.

Secondly, I added some coconut flour to make it easier to mix and roll the peanut butter balls. Otherwise, they will just break in your hand and frustrate you.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Dessert

Besides that, freeze peanut butter balls for at least 30 minutes if not longer before dipping them into the chocolate mixture. Otherwise, they will melt and make a giant mess.

For storage, I recommend you keep them in the freezer in an airtight container or freezer bag. They will last longer this way because you may forget about them there.

Or, you can be brave and leave them in the fridge, test your self-control (I already know mine sucks when it comes to these). Just don’t leave them out for too long or they will melt.

Are these similar to Keto Buckeyes?

Yes and no.

Buckeyes are usually not coated all the way through with chocolate. If you don’t know what buckeyes are, here is a little history lesson:

Buckeye desserts are a popular treat in the United States, particularly in the Midwest region.

Named after the nut of the Ohio Buckeye tree, these treats are made with a combination of peanut butter and chocolate and have been a staple in American kitchens for generations.

But where did these desserts get their start, and what is the history behind them?

The origin of Buckeye desserts can be traced back to the early 1900s in Ohio, which also happens to be where I live (go bucks!)

It’s said that a woman from the Buckeye State first came up with the idea of combining peanut butter and chocolate to create a sweet treat that reminded her of the nut from the Buckeye tree.

From there, the recipe for Buckeye desserts spread throughout Ohio and eventually became a popular treat in the entire Midwest region.

One of the reasons Buckeye desserts have remained so popular is their simplicity and versatility.

They can be made in many different forms, including candy, cookies, and even cake.

In addition, they are easy to make, require only a few basic ingredients, and can be customized to suit individual tastes.

Whether you prefer a sweeter peanut butter flavor or a darker chocolate taste, Buckeye desserts can be tailored to your liking.

Another factor contributing to the popularity of Buckeye desserts is their versatility.

They can be enjoyed at any time of year and are perfect for special occasions, such as holidays, birthday parties, and family gatherings.

They are also a great option for those following a gluten-free or dairy-free diet, as the main ingredients are peanut butter and chocolate.

In recent years, Buckeye desserts have become a staple in many American households, particularly in the Midwest.

They can be found in bakeries and cafes, and the recipe can be easily found online, allowing anyone to make them at home.

Buckeye desserts have become so popular that they have even been featured on cooking shows and in magazines, further solidifying their place in American culture.

Buckeye desserts are a treat with a rich history that can be traced back to Ohio in the early 1900s.

These treats have remained popular for generations due to their simplicity, versatility, and delicious flavor.

Whether you are from Ohio or any other state, Buckeye desserts are a treat that everyone can enjoy and are sure to be a hit at your next gathering.

Freezing Keto No-Bake Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls

No- Bake Keto chocolate peanut butter balls are a delicious and easy treat that can be made in advance and stored for later.

One great option for storing these tasty snacks is to freeze them.

Freezing peanut butter balls allows you to have a tasty treat on hand whenever you want, without having to worry about them going bad.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to freeze no-bake keto chocolate peanut butter balls.

Step 1: Prepare the Easy Peanut Butter Balls

The first step in freezing peanut butter balls is to make sure they are fully prepared.

This means that you should make the peanut butter mixture and roll it into balls, ensuring that they are all the same size.

Once the peanut butter mixture is rolled, place peanut butter balls on a baking sheet and freeze them for 20 minutes to an hour. This will help the peanut butter balls firm up and make it easier to dip them in the chocolate coating.

Step 2: Dip in the Chocolate Coating

Once the peanut butter balls have been in the freezer for 20 minutes to an hour, it is time to dip them in the chocolate coating.

You can melt the chocolate using a double boiler or the microwave. Make sure the chocolate is melted to a smooth and creamy consistency.

Dip each peanut butter ball one at a time into the melted chocolate, using a fork to help you do so, and then place the covered peanut butter balls back on the baking sheet.

Step 3: Freeze Again

Once all of the peanut butter balls have been dipped in melted chocolate, place the baking sheet in the freezer for another half to an hour.

This will allow the chocolate coating to firm up and will also help prevent the peanut butter balls from sticking together.

Step 4: Store in an Airtight Container

After the peanut butter balls have been in the freezer for another half to an hour, they are ready to be stored.

It is best to store them in an airtight container in the freezer.

This will help to keep the peanut butter balls fresh and prevent freezer burn.

Make sure to label the container with the date and the contents so that you know what you have stored in the freezer.

  1. These are so amazing! They taste just like buckeyes! My family loved them!! Thanks so much for this recipe!

  2. I’m so Whole30. When I’m not on round would like to try these. How would you make them Whole30? Thanks.

  3. Can’t wait to try these when I’m done with whole 30. They look amazing! The chocolate chips, sweetener, and PB make them a no-go while actively doing a round of whole 30 though.

  4. We have a tree nut allergy so I was thinking we could substitute peanut butter with sunbutter. Would that work? Thanks.

  5. These look delicious, but unfortunately, are not “Whole 30” as advertised. The Lily’s Baking Chips have milk and milk products. It’s not just the peanuts.
